winners and losers

statistics canada is showing that despite the strong economy, rising housing prices, and low inflation, not everyone is benefiting from the growth canada seems to be enjoying.

the long and short of it:

the short of it is, the poor are poorer, the youth are poorer, especially men, and immigrants are earning less, which basically means they're poorer. basically, if you're young, male, poor and fresh off the boat, you're proper fucked.

the long of it can be found here, according to cbc. the age old question remains: is there an economic pie, and if so, what are the gains? are they zero-sum, or relative? it seems the more money there is in the system, the more it tends to accumulate into the hands of a select few, making the rich, filthy rich. but i'm not a class warrior. i'm really not.
